About bereaved parent support

Bereaved parent support want to help any parent who has lost a son or daughter of any age, in any circumstance and at any stage along their journey of grieving. It is coordinated by Dave and Jane Park, who lost their son Ben when he was eleven, and everyone on the team has personally experienced the death of a child.

In this video, previous Bereaved Parent Support Coordinators, Mike and Kath Coulson, explain how meeting other bereaved parents can help:

So whether your child was stillborn or an adult, or at any stage in between, we want to reassure you that you’re not on your own. By coming alongside you through the ups and downs, sharing fresh possibilities for the future we can help you to discover a ‘new normal’.

We offer support in the following ways:

Telephone befriending

Peer support from someone who has ‘been there’ and understands. All our telephone befrienders have experienced the pain of loss first hand, but have also begun the journey towards hope and rebuilding. Find out more.

Bereaved Parent Support events

Space and time away for those who are grieving to concentrate on rebuilding and facing the future with hope among people who understand. Find out more.
