What is it?
Bereavement Care Awareness is a one-day course designed to help and equip churches to provide effective support for those in their community suffering the pain and heartache of a close bereavement in the weeks and months after the funeral.
Who is it for?
Anyone who has a heart for supporting bereaved people, but in particular, church leaders and pastoral care team workers
How does it work?
The course is facilitated by one of Care for the Family’s trained volunteers and runs from 10.00 to 16.00, usually on a Saturday. When we run a course we want as many people in the your area to benefit, so we are looking for host churches who can appoint a co-ordinator to work with us and possibly with other local churches to make the event successful.
How many people can attend?
We would like there to be a minimum of 12 people and they can all be from your church – but we would prefer more people in your area to benefit from the training if possible, up to a maximum of 24.
How much does it cost?
Where we have a trained facilitator in your area, the only cost is the actual cost of the delegate pack, which is £15 per person with a minimum charge of £180. If the nearest facilitator has to travel we would hope that the extra cost can be reimbursed as a donation to Care for the Family.
What else do I need to know?
If you’re interested in the possibility of being a host church email or phone us (029 2081 0800) and we’ll put you in contact with a facilitator who will give you further information. In particular we are able to help you with all the practical issues around organising a course, including the provision of publicity material.
