Following the success of their activity holidays during the last six years, The Beacon Centre at Lee Abbey, Lynton, North Devon is organising an activity holiday for bereaved families from Wednesday 16 to Monday 21 April 2014 (week 1) and Saturday 23 to Friday 29 August 2014 (week 2).
These holidays are specifically for those whose partner has died early in their life and their dependent children. Week 1 in April is for families with pre-school and primary school-aged children, and week 2 in August is for families with children aged eight plus. Those who book can be assured of a great five or six days with all sorts of exciting activities, all in the company of other families who know what it’s like to have had a mum or dad die at a young age.
Some of the activities you may try your hand at could include:
All these activities are carried out using experienced instructors with a high level of supervision, and all specialist equipment is provided by the Beacon Centre – all you have to do is turn up. The group will have sole use of the Beacon Centre during the holiday, and use of the grounds of Lee Abbey including the tennis courts. For week 1 some of the children’s activities will be in conjunction with the main house, and they will have use of playroom facilities within the main house.
There will be lots of other opportunities to have fun as a family together and to spend time with other families and lasting friendships.
All meals are provided and special diets are catered for with prior knowledge. Much of the food is sourced locally to Lee Abbey and cooked on site. Coffee and tea are available at all times, with snacks and juice available as and when required.
The holiday will be hosted by Jane Inglis and Vicky Bell. Jane and Vicky were both widowed at a young age and met at a Care for the Family Event, A Different Journey, now known as Widowed Young Support.
The holiday costs £175.00 per person for week 1 (5 nights), and £234.00 per person for week 2 (6 nights). These rates have been discounted by over 20% by Lee Abbey as they wish to support our group as single parents. Bursaries may be available on request.
