Step away from daily pressures and join us on one of our support days.
This special day is one in which you will be able to relax completely in the company of people who understand first hand the pain of loss. Just being able to share with or simply listen to others in a safe, supportive environment is an ideal opportunity to discover some fresh perspectives and to renew your strength, purpose and hope for the future.
Things to look forward to on the day
There will be opportunities to share informally over refreshments and lunch. Some of the issues we’ll talk about together during the sessions include:
- How to respond to feelings of guilt, anger and despair
- Strategies you can use to help overcome the pain of loss and shattered dreams
- Practical ideas to help you cope in the tough times
- Finding comfort, hope and a way forward
Meet the team
Steve and Paula are Care for the Family’s Widowed Young Support coordinators. They met on a Widowed Young Support weekend in May 2008 and were married in October 2009. They both have two children from their first marriages.
Having both been widowed young in 2007, Steve and Paula have personal experience and understanding of the grief journey. They are to use this at the Widowed Young Support Days and Weekends, and throughout the year in one-to-one telephone befriending and through regular email newsletters.
Steve and Paula are joined by a dedicated team of befrienders who have all experienced the loss of a partner early in life. They are there to welcome you and are available to listen, walk alongside you and help you on your journey towards hope and a rebuilding of your life.
The cost of attending one of our Widowed Young Support Days is £22 per person. This will include lunch and refreshments.
Widowed Young Support events are available to anybody who has lost a partner up to and including the age of 50 or older if you still have dependent children.
