Our in-person support events offer understanding, encouragement and support to any parent who has suffered the death of a son or daughter in any circumstance and at any age
The worst loss a parent ever has to face is the death of a son or daughter.
Children are ‘not supposed to die’. But sometimes they do – and the extent of the pain and devastation, even isolation, experienced by parents when a child dies is unimaginable.
Whether you attend on your own or as a couple, you’ll be able to meet others who understand the heartache you are going through. Many have found that these events can make a huge difference in helping them cope both now and as they think about the future.
Whether they died last week, last month, or years ago, if we can help you on the difficult ‘journey’ of grieving, we would love you to join us. If you have ever felt that no-one else understands the pain, heartache and the devastation you feel since your son or daughter died, these events are for you.
We offer both support days and support weekends, find out more below.
Meet Dave and Jane, our Bereaved Parent Support Coordinators
Support Days
You’ll be welcomed by our Bereaved Parent Support Coordinators, Dave and Jane, as well as our compassionate team of trained volunteers, each of whom has faced the loss of a child themselves. They’ll be there to listen, walk beside you at your own pace, and gently support you as you find renewed hope and begin to shape a new chapter in your life.
As well as having times to share informally over refreshments and lunch, during the sessions you will have opportunity to:
- Meet and share with other parents who have suffered the death of a child
- Discover practical ways to work through the pain of bereavement and loss
- Receive comfort, hope and help for the journey ahead
‘It was helpful just being able to meet and talk with other dads who are experiencing the same pain and are not afraid to admit it.’
The cost of attending one of our Bereaved Parent Support Days is £30. This includes lunch and refreshments.
We never want money to be the reason you are unable to access our resources and support. If you can afford to pay for a ticket, please go ahead and book via the link below. If that isn’t possible at the moment, please email our Bereaved Parent Support Coordinators Dave and Jane Park as we may be able to help you.
Please see our frequently asked questions page for further information.
We regret that it is generally not possible to provide refunds due to our financial commitment to the venue.

Support Weekends
Our support weekends take place in beautiful and relaxing settings providing opportunities to walk, take time out by yourself and be in the company of other parents who are facing similar challenges.
You will have opportunities to:
- Understand some of the different ways that men and women grieve
- Discover new ways to handle relationships
- Learn strategies to help you in your journey through loss
- Have time to talk about your son or daughter
- Participate in a time of thanksgiving to celebrate the life of your child
Making time for you
Many have found that taking an entire weekend away in safe surroundings, where everything is catered for, is a time when they can begin to explore their feelings of sadness and loss.
During a support weekend, you will have time to seek help and advice from compassionate people who have also experienced the pain of losing a son or daughter. Listening to how others have started to rebuild their lives will give you hope and the assurance that you do not have to put on a brave face and cope on your own.
It is also an ideal opportunity to make caring friendships with people who you could turn to for understanding and support in the future.
‘I don’t feel alone anymore. I have made friends for life and learnt that all my emotions are normal.’
Our next Bereaved Parent Support Weekend is taking place in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
- The cost of attending this weekend is £190*. This includes accommodation and meals.
- Bookings are all made through Eventbrite.
- Alternatively, feel free to call us on 029 2081 0800 and the team would be glad to help you with your booking.
- We regret that it is not generally possible to provide refunds, due to our financial commitment to the venue.

Some of our support weekends for bereaved parents include Brothers and Sisters: Life after Loss, an event for bereaved adult siblings who have lost a brother or sister.
The sibling weekend runs alongside our bereaved parent weekend, although most sessions will be separate and will be run by those who have experienced the loss of a sibling.
Please see our Bereaved Adult Siblings Support page to find out more.
