Step away from daily pressures and join us at one of our in person support events
Whether your spouse or partner died recently or some time ago, one of the most positive things you can do is to create some time and space just for you. Many have found our Widowed Young Support events allow them to do just this.
From the moment you arrive you are in the company of others who have all experienced first-hand the pain of losing a partner. It is a safe place to share honestly and openly, as much or as little as you feel able. Just being able to share with or simply listen to others in a safe, supportive environment is an ideal opportunity to discover some fresh perspectives and to renew your strength, purpose and hope for the future.
Widowed Young Support events are available to anybody who has lost a partner up to and including the age of 50 or older if you still have dependent children.
What to expect at our in person support events
Some of the issues we’ll talk about together during the sessions include:
- How to respond to feelings of guilt, anger and despair
- Strategies you can use to help overcome the pain of loss and shattered dreams
- Practical ideas to help you cope in the tough times
- Finding comfort, hope and a way forward
We offer both support days and support weekends, find out more below.
Support Day
You’ll be welcomed by our compassionate team of trained volunteers each of whom have faced the loss of a partner themselves. They’ll be there to listen, walk beside you at your own pace, and gently support you as you find renewed hope and begin to shape a new chapter in your life.
Alongside the structured sessions, there will be opportunities to share informally over refreshments and lunch.
‘It is a relief to share your story with others who understand and take the time to listen.’
The cost of attending one of our Widowed Young Support Days is £30 per person. This includes lunch and refreshments.
If you can afford to pay for a ticket, please go ahead and book via the link below. If that isn’t possible at the moment, please email our Widowed Young Support Coordinator Danielle Patton as we may be able to help you. We never want money to be the reason you are unable to access our resources and support.
Please see our frequently asked questions page for further information.
We regret that is it not generally possible to provide refunds, due to our financial commitment to the venue.

Support Weekend
Our dedicated team of trained befrienders who have all experienced the loss of a partner will be there to welcome you. They will listen, walk alongside you and help you on your journey towards hope and a rebuilding of your life.
There will be structured sessions as well as time to rest, reflect and form friendships.
By committing to a weekend away, many have found that they have time to explore their feelings of sadness and loss, seek help and be supported by those who understand. It is also an opportunity to form caring friendships with people you could turn to for understanding and support in the future.
We offer short stay (Saturday to Sunday) and full weekend support events (Friday evening to Sunday).
Our weekends take place in a welcoming and peaceful setting – the ideal place to offer you comfort and reassurance, no matter where you are on your bereavement journey. Each year our venues are carefully chosen to cater for your needs. All accommodation is en-suite and you will find plenty of opportunities there to rest and enjoy times of refreshment.
‘This weekend has been life changing. I found help and advice, compassion and understanding, as well as practical suggestions. I can’t recommend it highly enough.’
