A training course to help churches support bereaved people

The Bereavement Care Awareness course has been produced as part of Care for the Family’s bereavement training for churches. It is useful for clergy, church leaders, pastoral care leaders or any volunteer interested in supporting bereaved people – whether they are already engaged in bereavement support or are considering the possibility of developing it.

"The material is excellent. This was a really helpful and well delivered course"

Find out more about the course and why we think it’s important for churches to support bereaved people. Read an article about how an Anglican minister discovered the need for this course through her own bereavement journey.

Bereavement Care Awareness is now online

Care for the Family’s primary purpose is to strengthen family life in the UK and the Isle of Man. Whilst this event is available online, unfortunately, on this occasion, we are unable to take bookings from anyone who is residing outside the UK. For more details please click here.

Hosting a Bereavement Care Awareness course

Would your church be interested in hosting Bereavement Care Awareness for your own members and possibly for other churches in your locality? You can find out more about this below.

Bereavement Care Awareness training is designed to help and equip churches to provide effective support for those in their community suffering the pain and heartache of a close bereavement in the weeks and months after the funeral.

Anyone who has a heart for supporting bereaved people, but in particular, church leaders and pastoral care team workers.

The training is facilitated by one of Care for the Family’s trained volunteers. We are currently running the training online, via Zoom.

ONLINE – We would like there to be a minimum of 20 people training online. This can be from your own church to train as one group, or you can join our open training and meet people from across the UK. Contact us for more details on this.

The online training costs £10 per person attending.

If you’re interested in the possibility of being a host church email or phone us (029 2081 0800) and we’ll put you in contact with a facilitator who will give you further information. In particular we are able to help you with all the practical issues around organising the training, including the provision of publicity material.

Facilitating a Bereavement Care Awareness course

Would you be interested in training to facilitate Bereavement Care Awareness or to let others in your area know about Care for the Family’s bereavement support services? We’re looking for volunteers for both roles. If you think you might be interested, please contact Sonya.Pascoe@cff.org.uk
