Training to help churches support bereaved people
Bereavement Care Awareness has been produced as part of Care for the Family’s bereavement training for churches. It is useful for clergy, church leaders, pastoral care leaders or any volunteer interested in supporting bereaved people – whether they are already engaged in bereavement support or are considering the possibility of developing it.
Bereavement Care Awareness is now online
Care for the Family’s primary purpose is to strengthen family life in the UK and the Isle of Man. Whilst this event is available online, unfortunately, on this occasion, we are unable to take bookings from anyone who is residing outside the UK. For more details please click here.

Hosting Bereavement Care Awareness training
Would your church be interested in hosting Bereavement Care Awareness for your own members and possibly for other churches in your locality? You can find out more about this below.
Bereavement Care Awareness training is designed to help and equip churches to provide effective support for those in their community suffering the pain and heartache of a close bereavement in the weeks and months after the funeral.
Anyone who has a heart for supporting bereaved people, but in particular, church leaders and pastoral care team workers.
The training is facilitated by trained Care for the Family volunteers. We are currently running the training in person by arrangement and online, via Zoom.
ONLINE – We would like there to be a minimum of 18 people training online. This can be from your own church to train as one group, or you can join our open training and meet people from across the UK.
IN PERSON – We would like there to be a minimum of 15 people. This can be from your own church to train as one group or you can invite other churches in your area to join with you.
The online training costs £10 per person attending.
In person training costs £15 per person attending plus expenses.
If you’re interested in the possibility of being a host church email or phone us (029 2081 0800) and we would be happy to discuss how training can be arranged for you locally.
Facilitating Bereavement Care Awareness training
Would you be interested in training to facilitate Bereavement Care Awareness or to let others in your area know about Care for the Family’s bereavement support services? We’re looking for volunteers for both roles. If you think you might be interested, please contact Sonya.Pascoe@cff.org.uk
